Ruxley Church, Ewell

(Ruxley Methodist + St. Francis of Assisi)

The Church

Welcome

Ruxley Church is formed from two formerly separate Christian congregations who shared the same church building: Ruxley Methodist Church; and St Francis of Assisi (Church of England). We have now joined together as a single congregation, Local Ecumenical Partnership (LEP) and are exploring what it means in practical terms to be a "uniting" church.

Our aim is to live as Christians and show the love of Christ in our neighbourhood.

Starting the Journey

At the beginning of August 2000, Ruxley Methodists & St. Francis' began worshipping together at all services. Then in an historic vote at our separate annual meetings on 26th April 2001, both congregations agreed overwhelmingly to move forward as a Local Ecumenical Partnership (LEP) and on Sunday 20th January 2002 we signed our Covenant Agreement.

Services are varied and draw from both traditions (service details).

Next Steps

The latest step in our Christian journey together, is that we have decided to build a new Church building. This is a major project, as well as a step of faith, and prayerful planning is now well underway.

The plan involves relocating the Anglican Minister's residence; building a new Church with integral hall and meeting rooms; and using part of the remaining land for residential accommodation.

Development Progress

December 2008: The first phase of the building work is now nearly completed with the new Anglican Minister's residence ready.

However, the building of the new Church has been put on hold due to the current economic climate.

We are still open!

Despite the fence around the new building work blocking the old entrance path, the church is still open for regular worship and meetings.
The entrance is now via the car park in Scotts Farm Road, and a new path from Ruxley Lane is being added.
